Wanstead Park

Wanstead Park the area (as opposed to the park itself) covers the southern and eastern fringes of Wanstead, between Wanstead proper and Ilford. It is slightly more affordable than Wanstead Village and the housing is a mix of Victorian terraces and Edwardian semis. The park is a huge draw, with the ornamental lakes, the Grotto, and walks that connect through to Epping Forest. Manor Park and Wanstead stations are both options depending on where exactly you are. It gets some of Wanstead's reflected glow without the full Wanstead price tag.
