South Richmond covers the area from Richmond station up towards Richmond Hill and the park gates. Richmond Hill itself has some of the most celebrated views in London, protected by an Act of Parliament. The streets climbing the hill have large Victorian and Georgian houses, many of them converted into flats. Richmond station has the District line, Overground, and South Western Railway, making it one of the best-connected stations in outer London. George Street and Hill Rise have a strong mix of restaurants, independent shops, and chains. The park gates at the top of the hill mean you can be on open grassland within a five-minute walk. It's the heart of the borough and priced accordingly.
