The older part of town, centred on the High Street and Yorktown Road. Housing is a mix of post-war semis, some Victorian and Edwardian cottages near the centre, and newer infill. The high street has a Co-op, a few independents, and a pub or two but it's modest. Sandhurst station gives you the North Downs line into Reading or Guildford, which is handy if you work in either direction. The surrounding heathland and woods, including Wildmoor Heath, make it feel more rural than most Berkshire commuter towns. Military presence from the Academy is noticeable but not overwhelming.
