Sandy covers the whole town and the surrounding rural parishes. The centre has some older Georgian and Victorian buildings along the high street and around St Swithun's church, but most of the residential streets are post-war semis and more recent estates. The station is central and walkable from most of the town. The RSPB Lodge reserve on the eastern edge is a genuine asset for walks and wildlife. The River Ivel runs through, and the Pinnacle area south of town has some light industrial and retail. Schools are fine without being a draw. Sandy feels like a place that does what it needs to without trying too hard to be anything else.
