Minster is the oldest settlement on Sheppey, up on the hill above the marshes. The abbey church dates back to the 7th century and there is a proper village centre with a pub, a shop, and a few local businesses. Minster Cliffs sits along the coastal edge where the land drops away toward the sea. Housing is a mix of older cottages in the village core, postwar estates, and bungalows nearer the cliff. It has more of a settled feel than Sheerness, with families who have been here for generations. The cliffs themselves are eroding, which is a real concern for some properties.
