The centre of Shepperton has a proper village square with the church, the Anchor pub, and a small cluster of independent shops and cafes. It feels more like a village than a suburb, which is unusual for this part of Surrey. The housing around the square is a mix of Georgian, Victorian, and some well-kept 1930s stock. Shepperton station is on the branch line to Waterloo, which is handy but not fast. The Studios bring some local colour and employment but you would not really notice them from the village. Flooding is worth checking if you are looking at anything near the river or the creek.
