These are the villages strung along the A2 between Sittingbourne and the Medway Towns. Newington is the largest, with a proper village street, a few shops, and a church. It sits right on the old road and catches some through-traffic. Hartlip is up on the hill to the south, genuinely rural with orchards and farmland. Upchurch is north of the A2 towards the marshes, known for its fruit-growing heritage. All three have a noticeably different feel from Sittingbourne itself. Housing is mostly older, prices a step up from the town.
