Carpenders Park is a 1930s Metroland suburb that grew up around the station. Mostly pebble-dashed semis and detached houses on curving avenues, with decent-sized gardens. The station runs London Northwestern and Overground services into Euston, which keeps it popular with commuters. There's not much of a centre, just a small parade of shops near the station, so you drive to Watford or Bushey for anything serious. Carpenders Park cemetery and woodland give the area an unexpectedly green, quiet edge. It's a practical family choice if you want Hertfordshire space with a real London commute.
