Clarence Park takes its name from the Victorian park near St Albans City station. The streets around the park have attractive Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many of them popular with families and young professionals. The station gives direct Thameslink access into London, which is the whole point. Hatfield Road runs along one side with a cluster of local shops and cafes. The park itself is well maintained with a splash pad, tennis courts, and a bandstand. It feels like a proper neighbourhood within the city rather than anonymous suburbs.
