Carshalton village centre is one of the nicest spots in the borough. The ponds, the old village high street, All Saints Church, and the Wandle running through give it genuine charm. There are some proper independent shops and cafes along the high street, plus the Sun pub which has been there forever. Housing is a mix of Victorian cottages near the ponds, interwar semis further out, and some larger detached properties. Carshalton station has regular trains to Victoria. It genuinely feels like a village that happens to be in London.
