Stepney Green

Stepney Green is centred on the tube station and the green itself, a long strip of parkland that gives the area a slightly leafy feel unusual for this part of London. The streets around it have solid Victorian and Edwardian terraces, many now split into flats, alongside council blocks. It is a genuinely mixed area in every sense. The District and Hammersmith & City lines make commuting straightforward. There is not much of a high street but Whitechapel Road is close. Families live here and have done for generations. It is not flashy but it works.
