Stony Stratford is the jewel of north Milton Keynes. The High Street is genuinely lovely, with independent shops, cafes, pubs, and a proper market square. The Cock and Bull pubs face each other across the street, and locals will tell you that's where the expression comes from (whether or not it's true). It feels like a small Buckinghamshire market town, not like Milton Keynes at all. Victorian and Georgian buildings line the main street, with older cottages on the side roads. The Ouse Valley Park along the river is beautiful. Families, retirees, and people who want a bit of character flock here. The trade-off is that you're a bus ride or drive from Wolverton station for the train.
