Cropredy, Sibfords & Wroxton

The rural villages north and west of Banbury. Cropredy is famous for its annual folk festival and the Civil War battle site, with a lovely stretch of the Oxford Canal running through it. The Sibfords (Sibford Gower, Sibford Ferris) are proper Cotswolds-edge villages with ironstone houses and a Quaker school. Wroxton has an Elizabethan abbey and picture-postcard thatched cottages around the green. These are genuinely beautiful places to live if you don't mind being car-dependent and paying village prices. Very strong community life in all of them.
