Banstead has a proper village high street with butchers, bakeries, a deli, and a few decent pubs. The All Saints church and the pond at the top of the high street anchor the centre. Housing is a mix of 1930s semis and detached houses, with some larger period properties on the roads heading out towards the downs. Banstead station gives you Southern services into London Bridge and Victoria. The downs are right there for walking, and Banstead Woods is one of the better local green spaces in Surrey. It draws families who want good state schools and a village feel while still commuting into London.
