Thorpe Bay is one of the most sought-after parts of Southend. Wide tree-lined avenues with 1920s and 1930s detached houses, many of them substantial. The Broadway has a good independent shopping parade with delis, cafes, and a proper butcher. The beach is sandy and well maintained, and the yacht club adds to the tone. It has its own station on the c2c line. Thorpe Bay feels distinctly different from the rest of Southend, more like a self-contained seaside village for families who want space, good schools nearby, and the sea on their doorstep.
