Ightham is a genuinely attractive Kent village with a medieval church, a couple of pubs, and half-timbered houses around a small square. Ightham Mote, the moated medieval manor owned by the National Trust, is the star attraction and draws visitors year-round. The surrounding lanes and countryside are lovely. Housing is mostly period properties and some discreet later additions, and prices reflect the fact that this is a sought-after rural spot. There is no station, so you are driving to Borough Green or Sevenoaks for the train. The Pilgrims Way long-distance path runs through the area, which adds to the walking. It is quiet, well-kept, and the kind of place where people know each other.
