The core of Chafford Hundred is wall-to-wall new-build housing, mostly detached and semi-detached from the original 1990s development with some newer infill. The streets are clean and uniform in that estate-planned way. There are a couple of lakes that break up the housing and give it a slightly more pleasant feel than you might expect. The station is well used by commuters heading into the City. Daily shopping means Lakeside or the small parade near the station. It pulls a lot of young families priced out of inner Essex who want space and a quick train into London. Not much character, but it does the job well.
