Grays Riverside

This is the stretch along the Thames around the old town centre and the station. The riverside itself has had some investment, a new boardwalk and some flats, but walk five minutes inland and you are back to the Grays that has been here for decades. Terraced streets, some ex-council, a few takeaways. The station is the main asset. There is a Thameside Theatre and a small park by the water, but nobody would call it a destination. It is functional, it is cheap, and the commute is short.
