Belhus covers the northern part of South Ockendon, named after the old Belhus estate. The housing is mostly 1950s and 60s council-built, a lot of it now privately owned, with some newer bits around the edges. Belhus Woods Country Park is right there, which gives it more of a breathing space than the rest of South Ockendon. There are a couple of primary schools that families use. It feels slightly separated from the main part of town, which some people prefer. Still very much affordable Essex rather than anything aspirational.
