Aldgate is the eastern gateway of the City, where the Square Mile meets Whitechapel and Tower Hamlets. Minories and the streets around it have seen a lot of new residential development, mostly high-end flats aimed at City workers. The Aldgate and Aldgate East tube stations give you Metropolitan, Circle, District, and Hammersmith lines. Petticoat Lane market is steps away across the border. It feels more alive than the rest of the City because it sits on the boundary with the East End, and some of that energy bleeds through. There are a few decent pubs and restaurants but daily shopping means walking into Tower Hamlets.
