Sissinghurst is a small village known almost entirely for Sissinghurst Castle Garden, the National Trust property created by Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson. The village itself is a single street with a pub, a primary school, and not much else. The castle gardens bring visitors but the village stays quiet. Housing is scattered along the lanes, mostly period cottages and farmhouses with some later builds. It is a place where people know their neighbours because there are not that many of them. Cranbrook is a few minutes down the road for shopping and the grammar school.
