Coulsdon feels more like Surrey than London, which is exactly why people move here. The high street has enough for daily life: a Waitrose, some independents, cafes. It's on the Brighton Main Line so you can be at London Bridge or Victoria in about 25 minutes. Happy Valley and Farthing Downs are right on the doorstep, proper chalk downland walks. Housing is mostly 1930s semis and detached houses with gardens. Families like it for the space and the schools, and it's significantly cheaper than the Surrey side of the border just a mile south.
