Purley

Purley is the southern gateway to Croydon, where the borough starts to feel distinctly suburban. The town centre has a Tesco, a few independents, and the basics. Purley station is on the Brighton Main Line with fast trains to central London. The residential streets, especially up towards Woodcote and the golf club, have large detached houses on generous plots. It's popular with families who want space and good schools without actually leaving London. The Webb Estate is particularly notable for its Arts and Crafts houses set in mature gardens.
