Hinchley Wood is a quiet, residential area between Esher and Surbiton, built mostly in the 1930s when the railway arrived. The housing is predominantly semi-detached with the kind of uniform interwar layout you see across suburban Surrey. It has its own station on the line to Waterloo. There's a small parade of shops but nothing to write home about. It's the sort of place where people buy a family house and stay for twenty years. Close to the A3 for driving, and the primary school has a good reputation locally.
