Fawkham is a tiny hamlet, mostly a lane with farms and cottages. West Kingsdown is the bigger settlement, strung out along the A20 with a village feel that gets disrupted by the traffic running through it. There are a couple of pubs and a shop, and the primary school is fine. Brands Hatch is just up the road, which means occasional race-day noise and traffic. The M25 and M20 are close, which suits commuters heading to Dartford or the M25 corridor, but there is no station nearby. Housing is mixed, some older Kent cottages, some 1960s and 70s builds, and a few newer estates.
