East Folkestone covers the area around Dover Road and the streets climbing the hill toward the east cliff. This is the less gentrified side of town. There are pockets of real deprivation, HMOs, and some of the cheapest property in the south east. The housing is mostly Victorian terraces, many converted into flats. It feels quite different from the Creative Quarter just down the hill. Folkestone Academy serves the area. People who know the town will tell you the east end has been forgotten by the regeneration money, and that is still largely true.
