Greenwich town centre is one of London's showpieces. The Royal Observatory, the Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College, the Cutty Sark, the covered market, and Greenwich Park itself. The park is one of the finest in London, with views across to Canary Wharf and the City from the hill. The town centre has a strong independent food and drink scene, with the market and the surrounding streets full of cafés and restaurants. Housing is a mix of Georgian terraces, Victorian conversions, and newer riverside flats. Greenwich and Cutty Sark DLR plus Maze Hill National Rail all serve the area. It's touristy, especially at weekends, which is the trade-off for living somewhere this characterful.
