Lewisham Central covers the town centre and immediate surrounding area and is the busiest and most urban part of the borough. The Lewisham Exchange shopping centre dominates the retail scene and there is a regular market, while the Lewisham Centre has been rebuilt with a new Civic Centre and public spaces. Transport is excellent with Lewisham station offering DLR, Southeastern trains and good connections across south London. The area has a diverse and bustling community and it does not have the same village charm as Blackheath or Honor Oak, but it is a functional urban centre that serves the wider borough well.
