Woolwich has been one of south-east London's most significant regeneration stories. The Elizabeth line arriving at Woolwich station was the catalyst, but the Royal Arsenal Riverside development was already transforming the waterfront. The heritage buildings of the Royal Arsenal have been converted into flats, a cinema, restaurants, and the Firepower museum. The old town centre around Beresford Square still has a market and feels properly multicultural. The ferry to North Woolwich is free and still running. It's a place where new-build riverside living and old Woolwich sit right next to each other, and the contrast is stark.
