Woolwich Common is the green expanse used by the military for centuries, and the residential streets around it reflect that history. The barracks are still there. Housing is a mix of Victorian officers' quarters converted into flats, interwar terraces, and some council stock. It's quieter than Woolwich proper and has a slightly more residential feel. The common itself is flat and open, used for dog walking and football. Woolwich Arsenal station is walkable for the Elizabeth line.
