West Clandon and East Clandon are two small villages strung along the A247, separated by Clandon Park (National Trust). West Clandon has a station on the line to Waterloo, which is the main reason people consider it. East Clandon is even smaller, barely more than a handful of houses and a pub. The housing is a mix of period cottages and larger detached places set back from the road. Newlands Corner is just up the hill, proper chalk downland with views across to the South Downs on a clear day. Daily life means driving to Guildford or Horsley for anything practical.
