Homerton was one of the last parts of Hackney to gentrify and it still has an honest, unglamorous feel. The High Street has a mix of Caribbean takeaways, Turkish barbers, and a slowly growing number of independent cafes. Homerton Hospital anchors the area. The residential streets are Victorian terraces mixed with post-war estates. Homerton Overground station connects to Liverpool Street, which is the lifeline. Chatsworth Road Market has brought some weekend foot traffic and new energy. It's where people who've been priced out of London Fields end up, and many find they prefer it.
