Hoxton was the original epicentre of east London's creative scene in the late 1990s, with the White Cube gallery and Hoxton Square drawing in artists, media types, and nightlife. That era has passed and the area is now dominated by tech offices, upscale restaurants, and expensive flats. The Geffrye Museum (now the Museum of the Home) is on Kingsland Road. Hoxton Square still has bars and restaurants but it's a lot more polished than it was. Large council estates, especially around the Hoxton Street market area, keep the social mix real. Old Street roundabout and its tech hub is at the southern edge. It's central, well connected, and bears very little resemblance to the Hoxton of twenty years ago.
