The north side of town includes the older streets around the town centre as well as the estates stretching up towards the Mentmore Road and Grovebury areas. Closer to the centre you get Victorian terraces and some older character properties. Further out it becomes more typical estates from the 1970s onwards. The high street and the market are on this side, and the station is walkable from most of the area. Pages Park, home of the Leighton Buzzard Narrow Gauge Railway, is a nice local feature. Schools follow the Bedfordshire three-tier system with lower, middle, and upper schools.
