Westgate-on-Sea has always been the gentler, quieter cousin to Margate. It was built as a planned Victorian seaside resort and still has that slightly refined feel. Two sandy bays, a bandstand, and wide streets with large Victorian and Edwardian houses. The village centre has a small but decent selection of independent shops, a couple of cafes, and a proper butcher. Westgate-on-Sea station gives you the same Southeastern line into London. It's popular with retirees and families who want the coast but not the edge that Margate has. Property is a bit more expensive than central Margate as a result.
