Fen Ditton and Fulbourn are two quite different villages awkwardly grouped together. Fen Ditton is tiny and sits right on the River Cam opposite Stourbridge Common, with a proper village feel and some attractive period houses. It has a strong association with the Bumps (college rowing) and feels like an extension of Cambridge. Fulbourn is bigger and further out to the southeast, with more of a self-contained village centre, a decent primary school, and a mix of older cottages and 1960s-80s infill. Neither has a station, so you cycle or drive into Cambridge. Both attract families and academics who want village life within easy reach of the city.
