Duxford is best known for the Imperial War Museum, which dominates the area and brings visitors year-round. The village itself is small and quiet, with a pub, a church, and not much in the way of shops. It sits right by the M11 junction 10, which makes it practical for driving to Cambridge or south towards London. The surrounding area takes in Ickleton and the Chesterfords, which are attractive thatched-cottage villages straddling the Essex border. Great Chesterford has a station on the West Anglia line. Housing is mostly detached and expensive for what you get, driven by the M11 access and the science park employers nearby.
