SS3 8 / SS3 9
The eastern end of Southend, where the town meets the Thames Estuary. Shoebury has a distinct identity thanks to the old garrison and the beach, which is one of the better ones along this stretch. The old town around the High Street and the garrison area has period character. The East Beach is sandy and quieter than the main Southend seafront. Shoeburyness station is the end of the c2c line, so the commute is the longest from here but you get a seat. Housing is more affordable than the western end of Southend, and families like the space and the beach access.
