The area north of Jamaica Road, stretching toward the river. Butler's Wharf and the Design Museum's old home are here, along with converted warehouse flats that were some of the first in London. Shad Thames with its overhead walkways is atmospheric. It has gentrified hugely since the 1980s but pockets of council housing remain, especially around the Dickens Estate. The riverside walk is lovely. Tower Bridge is on your doorstep, which never gets old. Bermondsey tube on the Jubilee line is the main connection.
