St Katharine Docks is the marina right next to Tower Bridge, full of boats and restaurants, a world away from the rest of Tower Hamlets. Wapping stretches east along the river, with converted warehouses, the old Wapping Wall, and the Town of Ramsgate pub. It was one of the first areas to gentrify when the docks closed, and the warehouse conversions from the 1980s and 1990s are now established and sought after. It feels cut off from the rest of the borough by the Highway, which suits residents who like the quiet riverside feel. The Overground at Wapping connects via the Thames Tunnel. Families are rare here, it is mostly professionals and couples.
