Batchwood

Batchwood is the western edge of St Albans, up the hill past the cathedral. Housing is mostly mid-century and later, with some larger detached properties around Batchwood Drive and the golf club. It's residential and quiet, without much in the way of its own shops or centre. You drive or walk down into the city centre for everything. The Batchwood Hall area has a sports club. It feels like comfortable suburbia rather than anything with a strong identity of its own.
