The Homesteads

The Homesteads is a plotlands area to the north of Stanford-le-Hope, originally developed as smallholdings and holiday plots in the early 20th century. Many of the original shacks and bungalows have been replaced or extended over the decades, giving it an eclectic, slightly ramshackle character. Roads are narrow and some are unadopted. It feels very different from the rest of Stanford, more rural and private, almost like a different place entirely. People either love the space and quiet or find it isolated. Not much in the way of local amenities so you rely on Stanford centre for everything.
