Storrington has a workable high street with a Co-op, a butchers, several pubs, and a handful of independents. The village has grown steadily over the decades with housing estates spreading out from the original core, but the centre retains character. Washington is a small hamlet to the south, at the foot of Chanctonbury Ring, with a pub and a church and not much else. The walking from here onto the Downs is excellent. Storrington Primary has a good reputation. Rydon Community College serves the older children. The main downside is traffic on the A283, which runs straight through the village. No train station.
