Mile End sits along the busy Mile End Road, dominated by Queen Mary University and Mile End Park. The tube station is a proper interchange with the Central, District, and Hammersmith & City lines, so getting around is easy. The student population gives it energy but also means a lot of HMOs and shorter-term renters. Housing is a patchwork of council estates (some large), Victorian terraces, and purpose-built student blocks. The park is excellent and stretches from the road down to the canal. It is not pretty, but it is well-connected, affordable-ish, and has everything you need within walking distance.
