Wood Street has its own Overground station and a parade of shops that has improved noticeably in recent years. Independent cafes and a pizza place have appeared alongside the older businesses. It is not as polished as the Village but it has a genuine community feel and locals are quite loyal to it. Housing is a mix of Victorian terraces and 1930s stock. It is walkable to both Walthamstow Central and Highams Park, which gives it options. The indoor market in the old shopping mall is an odd but endearing local quirk.
