Hendreds

East and West Hendred are proper downland villages tucked under the Ridgeway. West Hendred is tiny, just a few farms and cottages. East Hendred is the bigger of the two, with a village shop, a pub (the Eyston Arms), a lovely church, and a real community that runs events through the year. The housing is mostly period, flint and brick, with some thatched roofs. It feels genuinely rural, the kind of place where you'll get stuck behind a tractor on the lane. Popular with Harwell Campus workers who want something with character rather than a new-build in Grove.
