Wantage & Grove Brook

This covers the core of Wantage town and the area around the Letcombe Brook. The marketplace is the heart of it, with a good range of independent shops, a couple of pubs, cafes, and the Beacon (a new-ish community arts space in a converted corn exchange). Housing around the centre is a mix of Georgian and Victorian townhouses, with more modern estates as you move out. It's a proper working market town, not a tourist destination, which gives it an honest, unpretentious character. The bus to Oxford takes about 40 minutes but isn't the most frequent.
