Great Amwell & Stansteads

The villages of Great Amwell and Stanstead Abbotts sit just south of Ware along the Lea Valley. Great Amwell is tiny, centred around the church and the New River springs, with a proper rural feel despite being minutes from the A10. Stanstead Abbotts is a bit bigger with a village shop, a couple of pubs, and St Margarets station for the Liverpool Street line. Housing is a mix of older cottages and some newer infill. It feels genuinely separate from Ware rather than being a suburb of it.
