Finchampstead

Finchampstead stretches south of Wokingham into genuinely rural territory. The village itself is strung along a ridge with views over the Blackwater Valley. There's a church, a pub, and not much else in the old village, but the California Country Park area to the east has more recent housing and the lake is popular with families. The Ridges, a stretch of heathland, is lovely for walking. It feels properly countryside rather than suburban, which is the appeal, but you're dependent on a car for daily life and the roads into Wokingham can be slow at peak times.
