Wootton

Wootton is a large village south of Bedford that has grown significantly over the past couple of decades with big new-build estates bolted onto the original village core. The older part around the church and Hall End Road still has some character, with stone cottages and a proper village green, but a lot of the area now is standard volume housebuilder territory. Families are the main draw because there is a decent primary school and Wootton Upper School has a reasonable reputation. Day to day you rely on the car for most things since the village shops are limited, though the bus into Bedford runs fairly regularly. It sits in nice countryside and feels semi-rural without being remote.
